CommercerZ
CommercerZ is a sellers' forum on the web of 2000: "The forum for people who sell online". On the first evening of the game, a post there is how the kid finds the wholesaler EmporWAY.
Description
Its board, "Selling Online: General Discussion", lists four threads:
- "Single orders from a wholesaler?? (EmporWAY)", by RustyBuckets (4 replies)
- "Shipping costs are eating my profits", by AuntieMaeCrafts (11 replies)
- "Best way to photograph items with a 1-megapixel camera?", by ShutterBug99 (7 replies)
For now only RustyBuckets' thread can be opened; the others are part of the scenery.
People
RustyBuckets, from Ohio, posted on 28 June 2000 that he wants to sell online without a garage full of stock. He has found a wholesaler, EmporWAY Corporation: a big outfit that sells by the pallet, but word is they ship single items straight to your customer if you pay them up front. He gives their trade line, 1-800-555-0142, and plans to call on Monday.
In the game
"New to selling? Visit the sellers' forum at CommercerZ." There, reading RustyBuckets' post is how the kid learns about EmporWAY and its phone number. The clock waits at 22:30 until the kid has read it; then it is late, and time for bed.
The forum is meant to stay part of the game's web, for more to come.
