Character
Artie Finch
Arthur "Artie" Finch is the counter clerk and shift manager at QuickTransfer, the wire store on Main Street in Maruf. He is planned for the walk downtown on Tuesday 1 August 2000 and not in the game yet.
Listen, kid. The wire company takes two and a half percent off the top, minimum two-fifty a pop.
Personality and appearance
Relaxed and pragmatic, and a reliable, well-known local. He never talks down to teenagers, and he is financially sharp: he knows margins to the cent. He works behind the security glass with a gas-station coffee mug and 90s rock on a desktop radio.
Relationships
Frank respects Artie's honesty but keeps up his stern act: "Tell Artie Finch that if he skims one penny off you, he'll be explaining it to my cane." Artie takes it with good humour.
Daily life
- 08:00 to 08:30: at home, then up Main Street.

- 17:00 to 17:15: cashing out, locking the safe, closing.
- Then home for dinner.
Story
Planned, a main mission. On their walk downtown, Frank waits on the sidewalk while the kid goes into QuickTransfer, with a warning for Artie: if he skims a penny off the kid, he will be explaining it to Frank's cane. Artie explains the wire fee: 2.5% off the top, at least $2.50 a transfer, taken before anyone else touches a dime, so a reseller has to build it into the retail price. The kid works it out: wiring $50 costs $52.50.
